Charlotte

Flow Therapy Long COVID Treatment
300 Billingsley Rd Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28211

Rehab and Physical Therapy

Flow Therapy is offering Enhanced External Counterpulsation, or EECP, to treat patients with Long COVID symptoms.

EECP Therapy is a noninvasive outpatient treatment for symptoms associated with heart disease. These symptoms are typically caused by a lack of blood supply to the heart, causing angina, shortness of breath, fatigue, and/or a decreased ability to exercise and engage in activities of daily living. EECP Therapy is believed to increase blood flow and oxygen to the heart and other organs, reducing or eliminating these symptoms in most patients.

In addition to increased blood flow to the heart, EECP has been shown to improve the health of the blood vessels in the body. SARS-CoV-2 virus impairs this pathway in blood vessels, therefore it is plausible that EECP may play a significant role in the management of post-COVID symptoms. Additionally, EECP can reduce symptoms of fatigue by 36% and breathing difficulties by 50%.

As Flow Therapy learns to better manage patients with Long COVID, the treatment center has seen improvements in shortness of breath, fatigue and "brain fog" after a modified schedule with 5 weeks of EECP therapy.
