Every Post COVID Care facility offers different services and access to specialists. We have labeled each according to services offered: Multidisciplinary Long-Term Recovery (most comprehensive), Rehabilitation & Therapy (focus on rehabilitation) and Acute COVID-19 Recovery (focus on improved function after severe illness or hospitalization, often in-patient services). *Survivor Corps does not endorse any providers.

Rehabilitation & Therapy

Physical, occupational and/or speech therapy can help individuals manage their long COVID symptoms. The therapists at North Kansas City Hospital offer education on:

  1. Activity pacing for your current energy level

  2. Breathing techniques

  3. Improving memory skills

  4. Monitoring your heart rate

  5. Rebuilding swallowing and speaking skills

  6. Resuming daily activities safely

University Health Center for COVID Recovery

Multidisciplinary Long-Term Recovery

The University Health Center for COVID Recovery is made up of doctors and nurses from many specialties, like pulmonology, neurology, physical medicine, rehabilitation services and cardiology along with behavioral health experts. They are focused on helping you take control of your COVID long hauler symptoms. 

Eligibility: Patients who meet the following requirements will be evaluated by the Center for Covid Recovery program. This includes patients who:

  1. Have tested positive for and have a confirmed COVID case. Patients will need to provide documentation of their positive test result.

  2. Are experiencing persistent symptoms, including but not limited to:

    1. Decreased activity level, including shortness of breath

    2. Headaches, dizziness, prolonged loss of taste or smell

    3. Cognitive symptoms such as memory loss, mental fatigue or brain fog

    4. Mood disorders like anxiety, depression or PTSD

  1. Thorough intake evaluation by an expert.

  2. Comprehensive review of your symptoms including the length and severity.

Afterwards your intake evaluation will be reviewed by a team of doctors and nurses to determine the best treatment plan.

University of Missouri (MU) Mizzou Therapy Services’ COVID Recovery Program

Rehabilitation & Therapy

The MU Mizzou Therapy Services’ COVID Recovery Program offers in-person and telehealth appointments to help patients overcome or manage long COVID symptoms. For those who have not fully recovered from active COVID-19 infection and are still experiencing difficulties in daily activities, the program offers the following:

  1. Speech language therapy to help with difficulty swallowing, breathing, voice control, word-finding and attention.

  2. Occupational therapy to assist with fine motor activities (dressing, bathing, toileting, writing/drawing, driving) and fatigue that leads to difficulty completing daily tasks.

  3. Physical therapy to help with return to work, return to sport, breathing, walking/standing for longer periods of time, lifting, carrying pushing or pulling.

  4. Human Performance Program Transitional Training to build strength and fitness to return to peak activity.

Therapy appointments are available via secure Zoom video conferencing or in the Program’s clinics. MU Health Care’s language services team can provide an interpreter if patients aren’t fluent in English. 

The program is available to anyone who has had COVID-19.

St. Louis

Washington University Complete Care Care and Recovery After COVID-19 (CARE) Clinic

Multidisciplinary Long-Term Recovery

The Care and Recovery After COVID-19 (CARE) Clinic supports and treats patients who have continued symptoms or complications after confirmed COVID-19 illness. These long-term issues can include problems with the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, blood clotting, and sleep and mood disorders.

To make an appointment: Eligible patients (those who have had a positive case of COVID-19, confirmed by a nasal swab, saliva or blood antibody test) can schedule by calling 314-996-8103 and asking for an appointment in the CARE Clinic. Providers can refer a patient through Epic by placing an “Ambulatory Referral to Internal Medicine” and specifying CARE Clinic in the notes section.

Psychological / Behavioral Health Long-Term Recovery

The Community Psychological Service (CPS) is a not-for-profit outpatient mental health center established by the University of Missouri-St. Louis to provide psychological services to residents of the St. Louis metropolitan area. CPS is committed to offering high-quality, timely, and affordable services to individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford professional mental health care.

Recovery from COVID-19 infection can be long and challenging; physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms can linger for months or longer. Patients and families recovering from COVID-19 may thus need support and help in developing new coping strategies as they return to daily life. The UMSL Community Psychological Service center offers affordable individual behavioral health treatments that are based on the latest research.

Individual appointments are available via telehealth (online or phone) with fee based on income. The center serves individuals and families in the Metro St. Louis area and across the state of Missouri.

Acupuncture / Alternative Medicine

Dr. Rena Münster, D.Ac., L.Ac., Dip. Ac., the owner at Roots Acupuncture and Healing LLC in Saint Louis, MO, whose doctoral research focused on the use of acupuncture to support patients who are suffering from Long COVID, is seeing long-hauler patients in the Saint Louis area.

Treatment plans at Roots Acupuncture and Healing are catered to the uniqueness of each patient’s presentation. The use of acupuncture, cupping, gua sha and moxibustion are used to regulate the immune, autonomic and lymphatic systems to treat fatigue, brain fog, migraines, body aches, dizziness and other long COVID symptoms.
